Rules of Survival is a battle royale game where you must defeat over 100 other players to win. Most maps feature 120 people, but some maps can go as high as 300 other players all fighting simultaneously. Like most other games in this genre, the controls are simple and it's easy to find weapons to equip your player with.

Primary Features

Rules of Survival is a free-to-play game with 3D graphics and it primarily features gun-based combat, but there are melee weapons as well. It has gained a loyal following and you should have no problem joining enough players for a full match. There are several game modes and you can choose between solo combat or making a team of players to take on other teams. You are brought to an island by plane and you jump off whenever you want.

You need to start gathering supplies as soon as you touch ground. You should look for nearby weapons, armor, resources and anything else that can give you an edge. Remember that other players are doing the same and there is a limited amount of resources. It's at this point that you decide how to play. You can start hunting other players immediately, you can hang back and wait for other players to fight each other or you can continue looking for more resources so that you're ready for any encounter. The goal is to be the last person alive and there are many ways of achieving that goal.

Similar to other games in this genre, every map has a circular barrier that you cannot cross. This barrier closes in tighter and tighter as the timer ticks down. Being outside the barrier causes damage and eventually kills your character. This means you're forced closer to your enemies as the match goes on. Always be on the lookout for other players as they will be hunting you.

While guns and melee weapons are great for combat, you should also look for vehicles scattered around the island. These help you get around the island faster and they can be used to defeat your opponent by slamming into them. You may not find any vehicles, but it's a huge advantage if you do.

Stealing Weapons

You might think it's best to just hang back and wait for every other player to fight each other until only a few remain. This can be a good strategy, but it often limits your weapon choices to whatever you found on the ground. An advantage to beating opponents is that you can take their equipment. This allows you to potentially find stronger weapons and also supplies you with ammo.

Weapon Types

Rules of Survival has a good number of weapons to choose from. Some battle royale games have more, but there is enough selection here that any player should be able to find something they like. There are melee weapons like a frying pan or rubber chicken. There are also pistols, assault rifles, submachine guns and shotguns. For those who like picking off at a distance, you can find a sniper rifle complete with a scope for aiming.

Each weapon category has several different models in varying strengths and capacities. You might get lucky and find the best assault rifle, or you might find one with terrible stats.

There is also armor available that can greatly improve your chances of survival. For example, there is body armor that will reduce overall damage and helmets that can help you survive a head shot. You may not find any armor depending on where everything is scattered, but definitely pick it up if you see any.

Different Game Modes

There are multiple game modes to choose from. Each one has the same basic mechanics of trying to defeat the other players. The main difference between them is whether you're fighting against everyone solo or you're joining with a team of other players. You can fight by yourself or in teams of two, four or five players. The same goes for the other players. If you're in a team of five, then the other players will also be grouped together in teams of five people. You can choose to be paired with your friends or you can be grouped with random players. You can talk to other teammates to come up with strategies.

Simple Controls

There are many things you can do in Rules of Survival. You can pick up weapons and supplies, aim down the sights, crouch, jump and much more. Despite all these actions, the controls are very simple and players of any skill level can easily play this game. It doesn't matter if this is one of your first games or you've been playing video games for years. You can easily understand the controls in a matter of minutes. Aiming can sometimes be an issue depending on the weapon, but it's usually pretty easy for most weapons.

The biggest problem that players have is with vehicles. It's technically easy to drive the vehicles. There's a button for accelerating, another for breaking and you use directional controls to steer the vehicle. The problem is that the sensitivity seems to be off. You'll go too fast, brake too hard, turn too sharp and it's very difficult to control. Even with practice it only gets a little better. Vehicles can give you a huge advantage if you find them, but controlling them can be a challenge.

Microtransactions

Like many other games in this genre, Rules of Survival has microtransactions. These aren't necessary, but they do give you new clothes to customize your character along with weapon upgrades. If you want to win consistently, then you might have to pay some money. If you just want to play and have fun, then you shouldn't have to spend a dime.
